THE LAST PICTURE SHOW…

“Jughead fights to keep the local drive-in open; Betty and Veronica investigate Ms Grundy, uncovering some startling information about her past.”

I know one thing for sure by this point. I love Veronica. Her attitude, her confidence, her clothes. The girl is on point if I may say so. Ugh so jealous. She does not take crap from anyone, and thats a good thing, to not let people walk over you.

I kind of felt sorry for her. I think she’s finally realized who her father is. And its not an easy thing to process. He may be on trial at the moment, but his connections to be able to buy the drive-in says something. Its worse if she was close to him, because its not like she wants to think bad things about her father. I enjoyed seeing how she stood up for her mom. She’s not embarrassed of her mother waitressing at Pops to help make ends meet. It just shows that she is a special daughter.

So Betty and Veronica found out about Archie and Ms. Grundy. Jughead did not say anything, even though he knew the truth. I don’t think Archie realized it, but he was the one who confirmed to Betty that something actually happened between him and Ms. Grundy. While Betty and Archie were having their conversation, presumably heated from someone else’s perspective, Veronica overheard which is how she found out.

I understand that Betty cares for Archie, and why she did what she did. She just wanted to protect her friend, ensure that he is safe and is not being used by someone who is older than him. But then I don’t agree with the breaking into someone’s car. On a side note, how? Like seriously, why would your father teach you how to do that? Even Veronica was surprised.

You can see that their friendship goes both ways, Archie and Bettie. Even though Archie has every reason to hate Betty for what happened, he doesn’t. Its the worse thing to lose a friend that you’ve known for so long. It was not her fault that Alice found out the truth.

I really want to believe Ms. Grundy’s reason for having the gun and fake ID. By the way, her name is actually Katherine Gibson. But for some reason, it does not sit well with me. Her reasons. I just feel that something is missing. Especially with that ending. I guess if thats what they say, thats what we should believe.

I think Betty’s finally stood up to her mother. Sometimes Alice can take her actions too far. First she demands that Betty and Archie not be friends anymore. Then, she goes through Betty’s diary and finds out about Ms. Grundy. Like come on. I would hate for anyone to read my diary, because its my private thoughts at the end of the day. Don’t effing read it. I was proud of Betty when she stood up to her mom, in front of Archie, his dad and Ms. Grundy. Lets hope she has been put into her place once and for all. But I highly doubt that.

I felt really bad for Jughead. At first you can see that he has some weird sentiment towards the drive in, but in the ending you understand why he is so attached to the place. Its basically his home. And now he has to look for another one. Moving forward, I want to hear more backstory about Jughead because there is this mystery which surrounds him. Not sure about the other people, but I knew that guy at the end was his father, who is part of the South Side Serpents. Why doesn’t he live with his father? That will be interesting to find out.

I know I’ve not really talked about the sheriff’s son Kevin, but jeez is he the best gay friend that someone could ever have. I really like his bond with Betty and the new friendship with Veronica. The make out scene on the fence. Gotta go for the bad guy. Huh? I hope we find out who broke into his house later on.

BODY DOUBLE…

• Riverdale • S01E03 • Chapter Three: Body Double • The CW • 2017-02-09 •

“Cheryl comes clean about when she last saw Jason; Betty and Jughead investigate Jason’s death Veronica and Ethel investigate a shame book.”

I think that this entire show is starting to confuse me a bit. Its interesting, but at the same time, its boring. I am really trying to get into the story, but so far its not my favourite show.

1.3.png

I’m starting to enjoy Veronica’s character a lot. She just represents girl power. How strong females can be if you really put your mind to it and not allow guys to do what they want with you.

She ends up going on a date with Marcus, who is the captain of the varsity football team at school. The next day to find out that he sluts shames her. Like really. She did absolutely nothing to be slut  shamed. And you know what, I agree with her decision to get revenge on him and his friends instead of telling the principle about what happened. Because think about it, what good would that have really done. Huh? Too make it worse the varsity football players have a “play book” rating the women they have slut shamed. Like come on. Are you effing kidding me? Its good that they brought this topic on the show because it happens in reality. I think that men need to watch what they say and do to women.

It was hard seeing Veronica’s mom find out about what was happening to her daughter, because I think that as a parent that is your worst nightmare. To hear that you child, no matter how old they are, is being bullied at school. Its not Hermione’s fault, its not like the children tell their parents in the first place what is going on.

I really loved Betty’s confidence during the episode. Like girl power? Seriously, she’s growing more confident day by day. I think she did go a bit too far with Marcus in the hot tub. Like what if it went out of control and she ended up hurting him. Even though I don’t really give a shit about him, I was still scared. You know. But its not to say that I don’t like her confidence because I enjoying seeing that growth. When she put on the red lipstick in her room, you could have seen that glow. Then her mom goes and wipes the lipstick off, then hands her a pink lipstick. Like WTF. Come on. Just leave the girl with the red. She looks stunning in it. On a side note, did covergirl sponsor this episode because the lipstick brand was obviously covergirl. I mean it was an ad placement. They did not have to show the brand.(Sorry but not sorry. Business student coming out here.)

In the last episode, Cheryl declares that she is  guilty and allows the sheriff to take her away. But the thing is Cheryl is not really guilty if you think about it. She just omitted the truth. It seems this whole show is doing that. Ok so here’s the story.

Jason wanted to escape Riverdale and his  parents, and he needed Cheryl’s help to do so. The plan was to fake his death by falling into the water, hide away for a month and then contact Cheryl. Unfortunately, it didn’t go as planned as you can see. This kind of explains why they never found the body when he was first missing. Cheryl did not kill Jason. Someone else did. We just don’t know who yet.

Sometimes I think that Betty’s mom takes her things to far. Did she really have to reveal the details of the autopsy to the public. Couldn’t she have stayed out of it, and leave it for the sheriffs office to find out or for the family to be left in peace. She had no right to reveal the information. She deserved being slapped in the face by Penelope. Just saying.

Its finally time that Archie’s dad is finally believing in his music. And it was nice of him to soundproof the garage so that he could practice. Come on you have to agree that is the sweetest thing a parent could have done for their child.

I really hope that Betty does not become like her mom in the reporting/journalism business. Its nice to see that she is starting the school paper back again with Jughead. What is not nice to see is that Archie’s secret may almost come out, and Jughead might not be able to do much about it.

SPYING ON PIN…

• Free Rein • S01E03 • Spying on Pin • Netflix • 2017-06-23 •

“To investigate her suspicions, Zoe defies her mom and sneaks off to the stables, where she has her first riding lesson and catches Pin red-handed.”

If I were to describe this episode in four words it would be: definition of teenage drama. Like legit. It was good none the less.

Once again, questions were not answered. Things are happening and as a viewer I don’t have an explanation of why it has happened.

The only thing they answered was E. E is Elliot who is Mia’s dad. Thats the only new thing that I learnt. There seems to be something going on between the two of them, Maggie and Elliot. Only time will tell. Rosie being out of the loop, and worried for her parents, sees a text that Elliot sends to her mom and then deletes it. I don’t really agree with what she did, but at the same time I can’t really complain. Can I? Then again that didn’t really work since Elliot ended calling her mother and asking her to spend some time with him. Rosie being Rosie and curious, thinks that the two of them would have been at the stable, but come to find out that they were not there.

If you are wondering how Rosie found that E stands for Elliot, it’s because she asked Ben, who is Becky’s brother, to spy on her mom to find out what she was saying on the phone. In return, she would help their pony earn some money for pony camp. Hey you have to admit that the horse looked beautiful in its braids. Round of applause to Rosie.

Rosie is not a bad person. I mean she’s still your typical LA girl, who cares about looks and fashion, but she knows that something is going on with her parents. Just not what. And most importantly she’s a good little sister. The whole beauty guru thing, thats debatable. But she is willing to cover for her sister, even though she does not really know what Zoe’s plans are. Being real here.

Zoe’s mom does not want her riding the horses. I don’t even understand why, if she’s friends with Elliot. But she never said that she couldn’t go the stables. I mean even Grandpa said so when Zoe was trying to sneak out of the house. But then she still ended up riding the horses while spying on Pin. At first she was terrified, but then got accustomed to it. Even Marcus was amazed, while Mia was a bit jealous. And lets just talk about how she was able to calm Raven after they took Pin away. Like you go girl. I would be terrified in that situation. A horse coming at you with all that energy and anger. Yeah no way.

The last episode ended with her finding the sedatives in Pin’s hoodie. This episode she tells Becky and they hatch this plan to catch Pin in the process. It worked, but I don’t think that it fully did. Yes they set up the camera, but then Pin realized that. After she was caught, which she had to lie her way out of,  Zoe caught Pin breaking in to the medicine cabinet. But I feel like there is more to the story. Pin did not try to defend himself. He was just way too calm. Too me, it was just sketchy. So I don’t think that Pin is the horse thief. Lets just add to that, Mia’s horse got stolen later that night. Like come on. Something is going on that we are not realizing.

CLOSE UP…

• Free Rein • S01E02 • Close Up • Netflix • 2017-06-23 •

“When Mia insists on mounting Raven for a photo shoot, Zoe must calm the wild horse so he can be saddled. Rosie snoops in her mom’s childhood diary.”

You know how in some tv shows, loose ends from previous episodes gets resolved in the next one. Yeah. It was’t like that. Instead, there were more loose ends created.

Remember when I mentioned that the narration by Zoe in the previous episode annoyed me, well turns out I may have judged too fast. This episode, yeah there was some narration by the main character, but it was only at the beginning and at the ending of the episode. So that was a plus.

I don’t want to judge Pin. I think that he is just misunderstood. A dark broody guy on the outside. But like everyone else, the cliché right? He has this secret we are trying to find out. Like, why does he have the horse sedative in his hoodie? Obviously, there is more to what we know so far. But it kind of makes you wonder. I don’t want to automatically assume that he is the horse thief, because that would just be an easy guess. He must have had it for a reason. Maybe that was what he had in the bag when Zoe caught him in the bushes when she was going home.

At the same time, we must remember to not judge a book by its cover. Yeah Pin is dark, moody and broody. But at the same time, I think he’s just misunderstood. He seems to be a really sweet guy. He cares about Raven, and maybe he cares about Zoe too. I mean why else would you give the girl your hoodie. I don’t know. He seems to be the type of person who knows how to work hard, and is often not given the chance. I just don’t think he is the bad guy.

Zoe really cares about Raven. You can see that. And Raven feels the same way about her. She is the bravest person to go in front of a horse that is acting up and be able to calm it. Now that is what I call brave. And you can see she’s starting to like horses. The girl is even dreaming about them. What do you expect?

I don’t understand why Maggie does not want Zoe to ride the horses. Something must be going on. From the moment Maggie came back home, she has been acting strange. Like whats so wrong with allowing your daughter to ride the horse. Isn’t that better than being inside the house all day. Plus the girl has already made some friends, which is way faster than I ever have. Also whats up with the unknown call that she had to take away from Rosie? And who is E? Rosie is Rosie, so I get her curiosity. Hey I wanna know to too. Who the heck is E? They must have really had some thing going on.  I just don’t know how I feel about Rosie reading her moms diary. I know that I wouldn’t want someone reading mine, because who knows what is in there. Actually I do know. I just feel that it is lack of privacy. Then again those diaries might be years old, so maybe Maggie wouldn’t care.

Lets just discuss the girls at the stable. Mia is a bitch. Putting it out there. She is jealous of Zoe for no reason, well because Raven likes Zoe. She is also subtly threatening Sam. Okay I get that your dad pays a lot of money to board your horses at the stable, but that doesn’t make it ok for you to act this way just to be on the cover of a magazine. The horse equivalent of Vogue they claim. There is a good chance the Mia doesn’t even make it, because the photographer was more impresses by the way the Zoe handled the situation with Raven. Also Mia had no reason to be mean to Susie just for wearing the same colour of nail polish as her. Like come on. Really. It’s just nail polish.

And then there’s Becky. She is so cute and clumsy. It’s so adorable. Who knows maybe she is right about the horse thieves. We will find out in future episodes. She also has a crush on Marcus. I don’t really see it. But hey the girl has a map, so you have to take what you get. Right?
