THE RIVER’S EDGE…

“As a new school year begins, the town still reels from Jason Blossom’s magic death; Archie decides to pursue a career in music; Cheryl Blossom stirs up trouble.”

It took a while, like 10 minutes, for me to be interested, but overall I enjoyed the episode. Honestly, I was skeptical to begin watching it because the trailer was not interesting enough for me to try it out and there was too much hype surrounding it.

1.1.1

So this is the thing, the moment I started liking Veronica was the moment I got into what was happening. Her one liners and confidence was what drew me in. Its strange, but as the new girl in town I really like her. I know its sometimes cliche to have the new girl as suspicious and sneaky, but she’s not really like that. All she and her mom wants is to start over in a new town because her father embezzled money.

Veronica comes to town and may seem threatening because it seems that she wants to take Archie from Betty. But that is not her purpose. Instead, she ends up increasing Betty’s confidence. Because of Veronica, Betty gets the chance to be a cheerleader, since Cheryl is the one making the decision and Cheryl does not like Betty. If not, there was no way Betty could have become a cheerleader. And that confidence allowed Betty to stand up to her mother for once.

With Veronica’s help, Betty is finally able to confront Archie about the way she feels for him. Betty might be the type of girl who has liked Archie for who knows how long, and in comes Veronica and her feelings for him are out. It may have ended in tears and the two of them being hurt, but at least they both got what they had to say and the way they felt out to each other.

Maybe the reason why Archie is not interested in Betty is because he likes a certain teacher at his school. Its just one of those cliche forbidden romances that are in novels and television.

At least Betty and Archie finally went out together, even though it was not only the two of them since Veronica was also his date. They all went to homecoming. Archie was one lucky guy to have two beautiful ladies by his side. There were no problems since homecoming was fine, but the afterparty, the same cannot be said, because that is when the problem started.

Cheryl put Archie and Veronica together for ‘7 minutes in heaven’ just to hurt Betty. Isn’t the intention/assumption of this game to make out? Maybe she knows that Betty has a crush on Archie and that was revenge for the cheerleading tryouts. Who knows. Cheryl has her plans all figured out it seems.

No offence, but Cheryl is like the Queen bitch of Riverdale High. She’s a junior at the school and she is wealthy, entitled and manipulative. The three best words I could use to describe her. She also has a twin named Jason who was missing.

Towards the ending of the episode, he was found but not alive.  Instead, his body showed up in the river with a bullet in his head. Its going to be interesting finding out who killed him. They said someone is going to be arrested on Tuesday during 5th period, so I wonder who that is.

Turns out that Archie and his summer fling, i.e. the teacher, were near the lake (which was where Jason’s body was found)  when they heard a gunshot, but never reported it. Then again, how could they because remember its a forbidden romance.

< PS. I could be wrong. So let me know what you think >
